  1. I see you requested a species "Coleoptera Elateridae". Sorry, that is not specific enough, as this concerns a family of species, not any single species. Great photo though! Posted 10 years ago
  2. Thanks for the 2nd request, I'm still having issues though: "Athoinae Athioni Athous" does not exist in eol.org (which is a bad sign, as they know virtually every species known to science), can't find anything about it online anywhere else either. Do you have a link from where you found that name? Or perhaps check the spelling? Posted 10 years ago
    1. It could be Sydney click beetle (Hairy Click Beetle) - coleoptera elateridae elateroidea hiddenantennae. The only other reference is from the Australian Museum web site and it has the following references
      Genus:Conoderus Subfamily:Agrypninae Family:Elateridae Superfamily:Elateroidea Order:Coleoptera Class:Insecta Subphylum:Uniramia Phylum:Arthopoda Kingdom:Animalia - See more at: http://australianmuseum.net.au/click-beetles#sthash.8yNghxz9.dpuf

  3. Athous haemorrhoidalis is a species of European and Asian click beetle. There are also several American species of Athous, but I couldn't find an Australian species. Which reference did you use?

      1. Sydney click beetle is not a specific species name. Hairy Click Beetle is the common name for Synaptus filiformis which is a European species. To create a species ID, we need a species, a genus is not enough. I found I couple of Australian species from the genus Conoderus, but the antennae are not the same as this guy has, neither is the one on the reference you suggest.
