Tree stump spider - Poltys sp I had found this spider around 10 months back in Bangalore. It was strange looking spider, with excellent camouflage.
Earlier this month during my visit to Coorg, found this spider in my friend’s garden just in front of his door.

By the time we came back home after a good long walk in the forest it was dark and misty, tiny droplets were seen on webs and flowers. On searching for a good web I stumbled upon a partially built web with what initially seemed like a stick hanging from the web, but on closer inspection, the supposed stick was actually building the web. Then my friend instantly pointed that it was the same species of spider we came across 10 months ago. Ah yes!! I was happy to see it again. Last time I wasn’t able to get good images but this time I never wanted to miss. We let is build the web and decided to check it after an hour or so. We came back, photographed it in turns without disturbing it.

I wanted to take images in the daylight so the next morning when I went I couldn’t find the spider in its webL. I went back to my friend saying it was not there, then he went to check out and after a minute or so, he found it! It was there as a stick on one of branches.
1. Thanks, but sorry, that is not specific enough. We can only identify species, not at the genus level. Posted 10 years ago
