Common Earthball presents itself
This species of fungi is abundant here currently, yet I have always struggled to present it in an interesting way. This specimen, however, was laying perfectly on a tiny hill, in a perfect state of maturity, with the last cool rays of the autumn sun highlighting its texture.

Scleroderma citrinum, commonly known as the common earthball, pigskin poison puffball, or common earth ball, is the most common species of earthball in the UK and occurs widely in woods, heathland and in short grass from Autumn to Winter.
