Knock Out Rose Blooms are fire engine red in cool weather and a cherry red in the summer.<br />
Species of roses include wild varieties that developed naturally over time, as well as hybrid varieties, such as Knock Out roses, which were carefully crafted and bred by people to achieve desirable characteristics. The Knock Out rose species was developed by crossing Carefree Beauty and Razzle Dazzle roses. The Carefree Beauty is also known as the Katy Road Pink rose. Because Knock Out roses were introduced in 1999, they are classified with other species of modern roses. Geotagged,United States, knock out, knockout rose, rose Click/tap to enlarge

  1. I see you requested a species for this, but I'm not sure if it an actual species, more like a family of species or a cultivation. A good way to check if something is actually a species is to search eol.org (or wikipedia). Posted 11 years ago
    1. Thanks...I wasn't sure...there are tons of these all over that Atlanta area and they are known as Knockout roses...probably a cultivation. Posted 11 years ago
      1. Either way, it is beautiful and well captured. Posted 11 years ago
        1. I did check and it is a hybrid cultivation. I still don't know the species but will do more research on this Posted 11 years ago
        2. I finally found out the story behind the Knockout Rose. The article that I quoted probably meant "type" of rose rather than "species". 1. Excellent research. What does the last part mean though? That this is one of several species of modern roses? Posted 11 years ago
        3. There has obviously been a lot of work making hybrids in recent years. The Knock Out was only developed in 1999 (15 years ago) and I imagine there are a lot more new types so it probably takes years to become an established type before any one is recognized as a "species". (that's my guess anyway). Otherwise there would be a new species born every day :) By the way when I look at some nurseries online that sell knock outs, I see that they have the letter R in a circle meaning that it is a registered/patented name. The article that I quoted probably meant "type" of rose rather than "species". Posted 11 years ago, modified 11 years ago
