Now I am "deurmekaar". Yes I think your identification is probably correct, but I have looked at the pictures of chamomile and the rainflower and and they are very similar, so to me it could be either (but then what do I know). Anyway, I don't think that it is a type of fynbos. Yes it does grow where fynbos grows but its distribution goes much further than any fynbos. I think (and correct me if I am wrong) fynbos only grows in that general coastal part of the western Cape, whereas the rainflower grows as far north as the Freestate and the Karoo, which would then rule it out from being type of fynbos. I don't think is chamomile now, I don't think it grows in the same way and I cannot find any references to it growing wild in this region. Posted 11 years ago

Thanks for trying. We can just enjoy the pretty flowers as they are. It is frustrating, but so be it.
