  That guide you refer to has never helped me at all! I calls for the type of species or its scientific name. How would I know that when I don't know what it is to begin with? Any suggestions. Posted 11 years ago

    I don't think you are getting my point. If you don't know the species name, there are sites in that guide that may help you in finding a species. That takes effort, and research. For example, the guide lists 2 excellent insect websites for the USA that should at least help in narrowing down choices. Posted 11 years ago
