  2. The Emperor dragonfly is a European species and it is not found in Canada. One similar species is the variable darner (Aeshna interrupta) or another local species of Aeshnidae.

  3. Indeed - quite likely to be an Aeshna, though it seems somewhat difficult to differentiate without seeing the sides of the dragonfly. It looks a little light in color to be an interrupta, but there's so much variation even within species that it still could be. Posted 11 years ago, modified 11 years ago
