White Egret

Egret in Sri Lanka

  1. You have identified this bird as the White Egret Flower, which is ... a flower. This should be the great egret (Ardea alba) instead. You should be more specific and check the exact name of the species before identifying it. It is best to use the scientific name to avoid such mistakes. Posted 11 years ago

The great egret also known as common egret, large egret or great white heron, is a large, widely distributed egret. Distributed across most of the tropical and warmer temperate regions of the world, in southern Europe it is rather localized. In North America it is more widely distributed, and it is ubiquitous across the Sun Belt of the United States and in the Neotropics.
