    This is a shelf bracket fungus - a mushroom rather than a lichen. Possibly a trametes versicolor or ganoderma austral, as they are common, but there are so many variations of mushrooms and fungi that appear to be similar that it can be hard to pinpoint.       Thanks so much for helping out. Fungi identification is so hard, and it seems in Australia they are largely undescribed. Posted 11 years ago
