This large dark moth (wingspan about 9.5 cm) and a few of its friends are often seen in and around our suburban house. I don't know its common or scientific name, but would love to know. It's very accepting of being photographed and will sit through several minutes of sessions, even with a flash or lighting. In this photo its resting place is a painting by Nindi, an Indigenous artist from North Queensland.
Taken with an iPhone 5S, using lighting from iPhone 4s.

Granny's Cloak Moth is a species of moth of the Noctuidae family. It is found in the north-east quarter of Australia and Tasmania. Strays have been recorded on Norfolk Island and in New Zealand.
