Granny's Cloak Moth

Speiredonia spectans

Granny's Cloak Moth is a species of moth of the Noctuidae family. It is found in the north-east quarter of Australia and Tasmania. Strays have been recorded on Norfolk Island and in New Zealand.
Speiredonia spectans Native to Australia. This species of moth likes to hide in dark places such as a cave during the day and my garage made for an equally safe spot for this one that I found sheltering there. I photographed it while it rested on a ream of paper.

Larvae feed on wattle (family Mimosaceae) and yellow tulip (family Euphorbiaceae).
