Don't Stop to Smell The Flowers If you ever find yourself taking life just a little bit too seriously here's a picture I took of a snail smelling some flowers. Probably not though, they don't even have noses. Or do they? Geotagged,Helix aspersa,United States Click/tap to enlarge

  1. Hello, friend! Welcome to JungleDragon. Your photo is very nice, I like it.
But this is not Helix aspersa. For us it is very important to correctly identify the species.

I don't know how many subclasses, families and genera there are, but it shouldn't be an easy task to ID any snail or slug, apart form Helix aspersa and Helix pomatia (the most popular edible snails).

  2. I agree with Jivko. Snails are very hard to identify, especially from a photo of a live snail. The descriptions are usually based on empty shells.
