Spotted Lanternfly - Lycorma delicatula
Spotted lanternflies are invading the northeastern US. They feed on at least 70 species of plants and can cause lots of damage. I have been collecting and killing as many as possible in my yard, but it's impossible to get them all.
Habitat: I saw 100's of nymphs on a single Ailanthus altissima tree. Semi-rural backyard

The spotted lanternfly is a planthopper that is indigenous to China, India, and Vietnam. Although it has two pairs of wings, it jumps more than it flies. Its host plants include grapes, stone fruits, and "Malus" species, though its preferred host is "Ailanthus altissima".
