Red Roman eating a bat We were sitting outside a few years ago when we first moved to where we live now in the Northern Cape and we heard a screeching sound and thought it was mice or something fighting. When we went around the corner this is what we saw - the spider eating a bat!! This is not a very good photograph as it was taken while I was still "learning" how to use my camera and it was dark so battled with focus Bats, solifuges, wind spider Click/tap to enlarge

  1. Thank you for sharing. The lack of focus adds to the mystery and you did capture a very interesting natural event. Posted 11 years ago

  3. That is quite unbelievable, the fact that a spider will eat a bat, scary. Thanks for sharing, no matter about the image quality, it is the event that matters more! Posted 11 years ago
  4. Anyway, it is quite interesting. Was the bat still alive, or it was dead? I wonder whether the spider had killed the bat somehow! Posted 11 years ago
  5. The bat was very much alive when the spider caught it - it was squealing and when we went to investigate what was making a noise we saw this. I don't know how the spider caught it but it ate it alive :( Posted 11 years ago
