Piping Plover (Charadrius melodus) Adding my &quot;talking to birds&quot; tag to this photo. I like how when you talk to birds, they almost always tilt their heads and look at you quizzically. It&#039;s like they are thinking &quot;What did you say?&quot;<br />

Poking around in the seaweed and sand on a rainy day. There were at least 2 plovers. I think they had a nest near the high tide line, but I didn&#039;t approach the area.<br />

The Piping Plover is a small sand-colored, sparrow-sized shorebird that nests and feeds along coastal sand and gravel beaches in North America. The adult has yellow-orange legs, a black band across the forehead from eye to eye, and a black ring around the neck.
