Piping Plover (Charadrius melodus)
Adding my "talking to birds" tag to this photo. I like how when you talk to birds, they almost always tilt their heads and look at you quizzically. It's like they are thinking "What did you say?"
Poking around in the seaweed and sand on a rainy day. There were at least 2 plovers. I think they had a nest near the high tide line, but I didn't approach the area.
*I didn't put the exact location because this is a vulnerable species.
Video:

The Piping Plover is a small sand-colored, sparrow-sized shorebird that nests and feeds along coastal sand and gravel beaches in North America. The adult has yellow-orange legs, a black band across the forehead from eye to eye, and a black ring around the neck.
