Dung Fly Leaf Mine - Synchysa tricincta
Blotch-like mine with 2 white eggs with wing-like projections on the underside of the mine. The mine had reddish brown edges. There was only one larva in the mine, but there was a hole visible on the underside, so maybe the 2nd larva had already exited.
I collected the leaf for rearing. The larva exited the mine and pupated overnight on 6/1/25 (see photo). I dropped it in a container with a few cm of barely moist soil to see if I can rear it to adulthood by overwintering it in the refrigerator. Hopefully an adult will emerge next spring.
Host: Maianthemum racemosum
