    1. Believe it or not, this was one of the small brown Pristimantis species that I actually identified myself (confirmed by my guide). Something about the snout shape makes it look a little different than the other nearby small brown Pristimantis species. Together we spent a lot of time searching the Amphibians of Ecuador website and comparing my photos to the possibilities in the area. "Pristimantis lanthanites", aka the Metallic Robber Frog, is a species of frog in the family Strabomantidae. It is found in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Its natural habitats are tropical moist lowland forests and moist montane forests.
