  1. It is probably a Thomisus sp., but considering the number of species found in India and the very few photos available, I don't think we would be able to identify this one further.

    1. The main visible difference between the Misumena and Thomisus is that Thomisus has bulges on their back. This one has those so I think it is more likely a Thomisus. Posted 11 years ago
  3. Regardless of the exact specy, the photo is very nice with the eyes good sharp. Well done! Posted 11 years ago
    1. what lead me to believe it was a Flower crab spider was this image
http://alhabshi.deviantart.com/art/Flower-Crab-Spider-269835072 almost identical although the source is suspect.

      1. Thanks for the research, Danny, much appreciated. Note that a Flower Crab Spider still covers 42 different species, whilst a succesful identification requires a single species. Posted 11 years ago
        1. lol Trust me I know , which is what makes bug ID so hard. Plus there is cross breeding, hybrids, and even species still classified as unknown, it's a real challenge, but then I didn't get to learn bird identification overnight, took lots of research and knowledgeable people, like we have on here. The Discover channel could learn a thing or two from us. Posted 11 years ago, modified 11 years ago
