    1. G. stolata and G. brunnipes are often confused. Elytral maculation is believed to be diagnostic, with brunnipes having fewer and smaller marks. While this is mostly true, it is not a reliable distinguishing character since individuals have been observed and recorded in both species which have markings that are identical to the other species. About 6 months ago, I read that the only way to distinguish these two species is the protrusions on the inner surface of the hind leg thighs (brunnipes has them, stolata does not).
