  1. Very clever, looks beautiful! Posted 11 years ago
  2. That's a nice touch of glitter. Unfortunately, even without it, it would be very difficult to identify the species of rose, unless it comes with a name tag. There are about 100 species, many hybrids of them and thousands of cultivars.

    1. It was a regular red rose. Alas, I am at loss when identifying plants and flowers. I was surprised when the Tulip would not pull up even though is has a Wikipedia entry. Yet White Pampas Grass (Cortaderia selloana) did. Confusing. Posted 11 years ago, modified 11 years ago
      1. Danny, for JungleDragon to make a species match with Wikipedia, it requires more than just any Wikipedia page. The system requires in particular a species page on Wikipedia, this meaning the lowest level in the taxonomy of life (excluding sub species). In this case, "Tulip" is not specific enough. Another example is "Bear". A bear is not a species, it is a group of species. A Brown Bear, however, is a species.

I hope this explains it :)

        1. It does. It's just easier to track down species of fauna. Getting into the plant kingdom there are so many hybrids and cross breeds that it can get impossible. Posted 11 years ago
          1. Couldn't agree more, I too struggle a lot with plant identification. Posted 11 years ago
