  1. Russula americana does not seem to be reported in Australia? Posted one year ago
    1. Maybe it could be either Russula lenkunya or Russula clelandii? I'm not sure, though.

      1. Oof, getting a bit complicated, please also see Morhpeme's comment below. Posted one year ago
        1. Definitely complicated! But, it doesn't seem like Russula sanguinaria occurs in SA. Although, I did see some records of R. rosacea in Victoria. It seems like this observation should just stay at Russula sp. unless Ernst can get a confirmation from someone. Posted one year ago

  2. Also - I just researched this a bit.. there's some discussion, but I think at this point Russula americana may be considered to be a synonym of Russula sanguinaria.. (and R. rosacea and R. sanguinea)... though sometimes I do have a hard time telling which info is most up to date.

From SVIMS - REMARKS Several entities may share this description. Some collections have a distinct fruity odor or a geranium smell. R. americana Singer, collected on the Olympic Peninsula, is identical except for larger spores. Another name, considered a synonym, is R. sanguinea (Bull) Fr.

  3. After entering the I’d as Russula Americana I searched more and realized that it was not correct. I tried to delete the identification request but could not. Posted one year ago
