  1. Wonderful discovery!

Question: your title says Paracycnotrachelus sp., but you identify it as Trachelophora niasica. Which one is it, it can't be both?

    1. thanks for your feedback Ferdy, I think Paracycnotrachelus sp. wasn't available as an specie entry. Trachelophora niasica is a mistake, this coleoptera belongs to Paracycnotrachelus genus. could you rectify it please ?

      1. Sure!

Note that it makes sense that Paracycnotrachelus sp. isn't available in the identification dialog. It's a genus, not a single species. Identification is only possible when knowing the exact species in the genus.

      2. By the way, I wonder how you came to Paracycnotrachelus sp. I see the visual similarity but Paracycnotrachelus species do not occur in Madagascar. Or at least never reported as far as I can see.

Trachelophorus dromas and Metriotrachelus holoxanthus are possible candidates that do occur in Madagascar, but I'm not sure if they're a full match. Not a lot of reference photos online.

        1. I came up with Paracycnotrachelus sp. by the shape of the insect. you are right this genus has only been seen in Indonesia.

Metriotrachelus holoxanthus might be a good track, I will do some research and come back later. thanks Ferdy !
