I can't believe it's been over a year since I took that photo! As usual, I'm horribly behind with photos, but since I have another owl coming up soon, I figured I might as well drop this one first.
Easily one of the prettiest owls on the continent, it's quite rare and hard to track to down in Peru, but Amazilia (the reserve that I work in) is one of the best places for it. I've seen it half a dozen times since, and I can often hear it singing when I go to bed! Posted 2 years ago

  Thanks Yael! Aegolius have got to be some of my favorite owls! Aegolius funereus occurs in Turkey and they're really inconspicuous, I wonder if they'll turn up in Israel some day... Posted 2 years ago
