          1. I removed the ID for now because I don't think this is Amanita gemmata, and can't confirm without views of the gills, ring, and bulb. The mushrooms in this photo don't appear to have the cap details of Am. gemmata. They may be a different species of Amanita.

            Plus, Am. gemmata is probably a European species with true gemmata only being on the west coast of the US. The gemmata-like mushrooms on the east coast have uncertain taxonomy, as far as I know. I recommend leaving the ID for this observation at Amanita sp., unless you can find a more expert opinion.
