This was on the exterior door to a bathroom near the entrance to Ankarana National Park. Also on the same door was one of the bright green day geckos. A good start for a visit to Ankarana!

Geckolepis typica is a species of lizard in the family Gekkonidae. It is endemic to Madagascar. Geckos in the genus Geckolepis have large scales that can easily come off in patches if the lizard is grasped by a predator, thus allowing the lizard to escape.
