
Bladderwort trap, Otún Quimbaya Fauna and Flora Sanctuary, Colombia
Our guide and friend Manuel Espejo is obsessed with carnivorous plants, so here we tried to use the 5:1 macro lens I brought to document the trapping mechanism of a bladderwort. The paperclip is pointing at the trap, which is a mere 1mm in size, yet one of the most sophisticated trapping mechanisms in the natural world.
