
Eastern Red Cedar - Juniperus virginiana
These fruits only occur on the female plants.
Fun fact: Cedar waxwings are very fond of these fruits. It only takes 12 minutes for them to digest the seeds, and seeds that are consumed by these bird have levels of germination roughly three times higher than those of seeds that the birds did not eat.

Juniperus virginiana (Eastern Red-cedar, Red Cedar, Eastern Juniper, Red Juniper, Pencil Cedar, Aromatic Cedar) is a species of juniper native to eastern North America from southeastern Canada to the Gulf of Mexico and east of the Great Plains.
