
Matsutake - Tricholoma caligatum group
This is a European species. The North American version is categorized under the same name for now, but is likely a different (yet to be named) species.
The caps were very scaly and nearly flat. Cream-colored, crowded, attached gills with fibrillose white veil. Stipes were booted.
Habitat: Growing on the ground; mixed forest.

Tricholoma caligatum is a southern European and north African species associated with pines. In North America, "Tricholoma caligatum" occurs under hardwoods in eastern North America and the Midwest, but is likely a different species that has yet to be named.
