Purple-gilled Waxy Cap - Hygrocybe purpureofolia
*It was difficult to capture the purple gills, so I've shared 2 photos of the gills: one is more purple because it wasn't washed out with flash, but it is sadly blurry. I'm including it for the record, though bc it is important for species ID.
Bright orange-reddish caps; attached, nearly distant pale purple gills with frequent short gills; orange stipes with white basal mycelium.
Habitat: Growing on the ground; Mixed forest with oak and eastern hemlock growing nearby
Similar species: Agaricales
