Harpy Eagle, Caquetá, Colombia
The lifer I would not expect to see in a lifetime. This was a fully spontaneous discovery, we were not even looking for it, nor is that really possible without stalking a known nest location. This seems to be a juvenile approximately 2 years old. To learn more about this incredible "God of Birds", check out the video:
The Harpy Eagle, sometimes known as the American Harpy Eagle, is a Neotropical species of eagle. It is the largest and most powerful raptor found in the Americas, and among the largest extant species of eagles in the world. It usually inhabits tropical lowland rainforests in the upper canopy layer.
