A really sneaky duck that can be found in ridiculously tiny ponds, but that usually hides in vegetation during the day, it had become a so-called "nemesis bird" for me, having eluded me in various spots across several countries. But, at last, it is a nemesis no more! (cue maniacal laughing) Posted 2 years ago

The masked duck is a tiny stiff-tailed duck ranging through the tropical Americas. They are found from Mexico to South America and also in the Caribbean. Primarily not migratory, masked ducks are reported as very uncommon vagrants in the southernmost United States, along the Mexican border and in Florida.
