Deep red caps, lavender-gray gills, and a white stem with a thick, cogwheeled ring.
Interestingly, Stropharia rugosoannulata is a nematophagous fungus, which means that it is able to trap and digest nematodes.
Habitat: Growing on the ground in wood chips; nature trail in a mixed forest

Stropharia rugosoannulata is an agaric of the family Strophariaceae found in Europe and North America, and introduced to Australia and New Zealand.

Had to look up what nematodes are. Now that I know, I think I made a connection with some worm I photographed in Colombia, had no idea what it was. Posted 2 years ago
