
Violet-Toothed Polypore - Trichaptum biforme
I only took a shot of this fungus because the color was so fantastic. It wasn't until uploading the photo that I noticed there are fairy pins (Phaeocalicium polyporaeum) on the fungus! I have always wanted to find fairy pins and am happy to have a photo, albeit a blurry one!
Habitat: Growing on rotting wood; mixed forest

"Trichaptum biforme" is a species of poroid fungus in the order Hymenochaetales. It is a saprobe that decomposes hardwood stumps and logs.
