On a personal creative perspective learning point for me, why the selection of a black background when much of the insect is black and the legs are black. Would not a white background have been better to see the legs, eyes and other facial features? If the color was the main focus I see your reasoning. Posted 3 years ago
Generally for insect specimens I've somewhat standardized on a particular approach. The single shot dark backgrounds don't serve much of an artistic optimum, they're more like registration shots to document some basic angles. In a way, they're somewhat rushed. I invest more time in the stacks that I do for each specimen, where I try to take better care of composition and lighting. Posted 3 years ago
