    1. Thanks! They eat the sap, but I thought from the leaves. I'm not sure if the aphids damaged the bark to produce the sap or if the tree was already leaking sap and this attracted them. Posted 3 years ago

      1. I think I've read that for one wax-tailed insect this is intentional, a distraction to predators in the same way some arthropods easily sacrifice a limb. Not sure if that logic applies to this one though. Posted 3 years ago
