RobberFly The Asilidae are the robber fly family, also called assassin flies.     1. Thanks for helping him. Please know though that "Robber fly" is not a valid species name. "Robber fly" is a family of species, containing many individual species. We have to know the exact name of this species in order to identify it :) Posted 11 years ago
      1. I don't think any of the flies identified as Efferia aestuans is correct. They all look very different and neither of them was taken within the range of this species which is north America - not Israel or Indonesia.

  4. Beautiful photo! Very sharp with good lighting and a perfectly blurred background. I have photographed a few of these robber flies myself but didn't come close to this quality. Even the plant the robber fly is sitting on is interesting enough for a photo on it's own. Posted 11 years ago
