  2. Do you have any other photos because Andrena sp. has foveae (basically hairy grooves) between their eyes and antennae. I think your bee has them, but am not completely sure.

    If you were on the east coast, I would guess it might be Andrena erigeniae. Maybe there's a similar Andrena sp. in your area, but I'm not sure.

      BugGuide agrees with you and has put it in Andrena, but not gone further. My bug book only says we have >200 species....

      1. Oh, great! But, not easy to ID to species-level! Maybe someone on BG will know. Andrena are some of the first bees to emerge in spring, often even before the flowers bloom. Posted 3 years ago
