Silhouette of a Foxtail
A giant foxtail silhouetted against a bitter but beautiful December sunset. Foxtails are a non-native grass introduced to North America from Asia. Although it is too late to eradicate this particular species, as it is well developed across the continent, it is never too late to spread awareness about the spread of invasive and non-native species.
"Setaria faberi", the Giant Foxtail, also known as Chinese foxtail, Chinese millet, giant bristlegrass, or nodding foxtail, is an Asian grass. It is a summer annual, with plants emerging from seeds in the spring, and setting seeds in the late summer or fall.
