Goat - Capra aegagrus hircus

I love visiting the friendly goats at our neighborhood farm. They love having their heads scratched.

Fun fact: goats have bald, callused knees. They are born with hairy knees, but the hair wears off with time from all the kneeling that goats do.

I wonder if they suffer from arthrose and arthritis like us humans, probably yes! My knees are developing some issues but I try to counteract it with cardio and weight lifting exercises at least 3-4 times a week. Posted 3 years ago

  Good question. I imagine they do. I read that the calluses don't cause them any pain, but I'm not sure how that can be proved. It sure looks unpleasant. I have arthritis and find that the more I move, the better I feel. You're onto something with the cardio...it definitely helps me, at least! I don't do any weight lifting exercises, but probably should start. Posted 3 years ago

    well, I only go up to 4kg the most and most often I use 1,5 or 3 on each hand so is a very humble weight lifting but it helps :-) Posted 3 years ago
