  1. Hey Ferdy, another great frog! That Frogs of Mindo poster is most excellent, I love the illustrations and guides put out by the Tropical Herping folks. However, I would not guess P. sobretes from the yellow dorsal stripe. This is a variable character in many species of Pristimantis (at least), so not very good for ID. I do agree that it looks like a Pristimantis. The skin texture (including placement of tubercles), eye color, and snout shape are all much better characters to consider. Without doing a deep dive on these various species, the ones on the poster that look like the best matches to me are male Pristimantis crenunguis and male Pristimantis labiosus.     1. Good thing I checked, thanks so much for the scrutiny. I've removed the species ID and listed the candidates you mentioned. I haven't been able yet to pin down one of the two as both species seems so variable. That's fine though, correctness is most important. Posted 3 years ago
