Mayfly Nymph - Ameletus ludens This species seems to "play dead". I have noticed numerous times that if I disturb them at all, they sink to the bottom of the tank and lay sideways. They will stay like this for several minutes before they resume swimming around.
Habitat: Collected from a pond and photographed under a microscope.
1. That is so cool. A survival mechanism? Look at those cute little eyes! Posted 3 years ago
    1. I think it must be because they all seem to do it. There have been many times that I thought I had killed one from stress, but it's just a fake-out. Posted 3 years ago
