Alien Face? First observed this Bird Dung&#039;s Spider - Cyrtarachne sp. in mid-October when a local hiking buddy saw it at a walking path between 2 residential areas.  Was then able to see this adult female regularly each time I pass by the place.<br />
<br />
Towards mid-November, started to notice egg sacs glued under leaves on the same plant :<br />

Unfortunately, towards end-November, the plant the Spider and egg sacs were found were uprooted when local authorities cleared the path way using bull dozer :<br />

Thinking the egg sacs will be damaged/lost due to the uprooted plant, I decided to collect all 3 egg sacs home to keep in a container for monitoring.<br />

Was relief when the eggs hatched, with hundreds of spiderlings :<br />

      Indeed it is not a common spider, all the more to make sure there's a chance for the next generation :)

    1. Actually there are some bugs that will feast on bird excrement and this mimicry is with the intention to attracts flies and moths that could be interested to feast on it, but become the feast! :D Posted 3 years ago
