Wasp mimic thick-headed fly
For a couple of weeks each year the ti-tree flowers bloom and get over-run by particular insects.
Two of the annual visitors come at exactly the same time and look almost identical.
One is a wasp but this one is a fly in the family Conopidae or 'Thick headed flies'
Unfortunately I don't expect to get much further than genus Australoconops spp.
