Stalked Puffball-in-aspic - Calostoma cinnabarinum
It's been 7 years since I last saw this species! It's a very cool fungus in that is very beautiful, but also incredibly gross. The texture feels like a combination of Jello and snot.
Fruiting bodies consist of roundish, bright red spore sacs that are covered with a thick clear jelly and raised up on spongy red stems.
Habitat: Wet, mixed forest

"Calostoma cinnabarinum" is a species of gasteroid fungus in the family Sclerodermataceae, and is the type species of the genus "Calostoma". It is known by several common names, including stalked puffball-in-aspic and gelatinous stalked-puffball.
