The population of this species from Penang Island was previously thought to be Orestes mouhotii but a scientific paper published earlier this year which I co-authored verified it to be Orestes draegeri instead. Orestes draegeri was a newly described species in 2018 thought to be endemic from Vietnam. The population from Vietnam are sexual where males are found whereas the population from Penang Island are parthenogenetic, as only females are found!
