    1. It looks like a male mosquito, probably Culex sp.. Maybe Culex pipiens, but I don't know what other similar species may live in that area. :)

      A couple ways to tell the difference between a midge and a mosquito: midges do not have a proboscis, while mosquitoes do (the long thing between the antennae is the proboscis). Mosquito wings are covered in scales, while midge wings are usually barren. Midges often rest with their bodies flat against a substrate while mosquitoes do not.
