Shotgun Kelp - Agarum clathratum/cribosum
This kelp grows in the very low intertidal/subtidal zone. This was just a piece of the kelp that had washed up on the beach. It is covered with holes, which reduces the effect of the tide on the kelp.
Habitat: Beach during low tide
*It seems that Agarum clathratum is the current name for this species and that Agarum cribosum is the older name?
Similar species: Laminariales
