Dolichopodidae, Long-legged fly I believe this to be a long-legged fly, family Dolichopodidae. They are predatory, and some 7,000 species are described worldwide. Besides their obvious long legs and typical posture, many species feature extravagant body parts, like the thorax seen in this photo. Most are really tiny, I estimate this one at 3-5mm.
