1. Can anyone I.D this? Found along inclined hiking trail near water source. Located in New York, U.S Posted 4 years ago
  2. First of all, thanks for sharing! This is Chromelosporiopsis coerulescens. I've been hearing reports of it all along the East Coast this year (I've seen it multiple times as well). One of my observations:
Chromelosporiopsis coerulescens Growing in leaf litter/debris beneath a hickory tree in a mixed forest.
This fungus is actually really cool as it is only known to have this anamorphic form (reproducing asexually). It has no known teleomorphic (sexual) form.
Secondly, welcome to JungleDragon!! We can't wait to see more posts from your area! I'm not sure we have anyone posting regularly from NY!

I've included some info below to help you optimize your post! Members are typically asked to include basic details as part of the photo, therefore please consider the following tip(s):

    - Please give your photo a meaningful title and description. You can do so using the "Edit details" button below the photo. It is recommended to include basics like the name of the species and the location in the title.

-Include location info in the Geotag section at the top right of the page. You are asked to at least share the country in which the photo was taken, since this helps in identifying the species. You can set the country using the "Set country" button. Even better is to geotag the photo, which you can do using the "Geotag this photo" button.

Note that by sharing your photo with more complete details, it will show up in the species browser, the global wildlife map and in search. It helps people find your photo much better, plus it delivers a far more educational photo. Check out our photo sharing tutorial for more information:
