1. I refuse to put any work in a post with such hostile title. I know, hardly a threat with my fungi "knowledge", but it's the principle that counts. Posted 4 years ago

  2. Do you think it could be Inocybe sp.? It reminds me of these:
Mushroom - Inocybe sp. Nearly flat, fibrous cap with a brownish spot in the middle. Gills were brown and close/near distant. Stipe was caramel-colored and fibrous.

Habitat: Growing on the ground in a mixed forest.
Mushrooms - Inocybe sp.? I have no idea what these are - maybe Inocybe?

Habitat: Growing in moss in a mostly deciduous forest.
Inocybe lacera group *There are numerous varieties of this species

Cap: Brown with darker center; broadly convex/nearly flat; fibrous/scaly
Gills: Close; tan; frequent short gills
Stem: Equal; tannish brown; dry; hairy/fibrous
Habitat: Growing on the ground in a mixed forest
1. That was one of my guesses, but it didn't feel like the Inocybe I had seen. I'm leaning Cystoagaricus maybe? I dunno yet!

This species has been seen in GA (I'm wondering if this was attached to a root underground. It felt hard below the moss). https://mushroomobserver.org/observer/index_observation?q=1gp6b
